Whether you love the Kia Soul EV or prefer the Kia SoulGT line turbo, you may be in the market for a different compact crossover to drive. We have compiled a list of cars similar to Kia Soul that have similar features, including comparable fuel efficiency and in some cases, all-wheel drive.
My brother purchased his daughter a very pretty red Kia Soul to drive back and forth to high school and now, she will be driving it to her new apartment in Cleveland as she heads off to college. She loves her little red Kia Soul and would not trade it for any other type of vehicle, although there are many vehicles on the market that are similar to the Kia Soul.
My parents also loved their Kia Soul but ended up trading upward when it came time to the Kia Sportage which made our list of vehicles similar to the Kia Soul that is listed in this article.
A brand new Kia Soul costs around $18,000 but you can pick up a used one with low miles for around 16,000 or even less depending on what area you shop in. It resembles an SUV but it does not have all-wheel drive. It is a four-door hatchback and the vehicle is described as a subcompact car although it is very spacious. It is touted as an affordable crossover SUV for both urban and suburban living.
You can purchase a Kia Soul with different mid-grade and trim level, such as the Kia Soul EV, which means you can get a more powerful engine and a more comfortable interior if you so choose. It is considered one of the best compact cars out there on the market today and JD Power and Associates give it a reliability score of 4.5 out of five which makes it the best in its class and it also receives very high marks in crash tests so it is a very safe vehicle.

Kia Sportage
A subcompact SUV, the Kia Sportage and is highly ranked with plenty of legroom for your passengers in a very luxurious interior for its class. It has more cargo capacity than the Kia Soul, even when the rear seats are in use, but has the same basic infotainment system with a five-inch touch screen along with similar gas mileage which isn’t the greatest for either one of these vehicles.
It has a price tag of around $23,000. I like this small car better than my parent’s Kia Soul Turbo because it has a nicer interior and more passenger space. It seems to get pretty good MPG and would definitely at least be worth a test drive or two.
Kia Niro
If you like vehicles in the Kia family like my parents seem to but you want something that is even more like an SUV, you might want to try the hybrid Kia Niro. It gets great MPG at 52 miles in the city and 49 when you are cruising down the highway. It has a price tag of about $25,000 and is very highly rated when it comes to a subcompact SUV.
It has less cargo room than the Kia Soul but plenty of passenger space and more features, including smartphone connecting options and an eight-inch touch screen.
Fiat 500X
At a price tag of around $20,000, the Fiat 500X has an Italian style to it and an upscale interior. It comes with a shorter warranty than other vehicles on our list and does not have as high of a predicted reliability rating. It does feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Chevrolet Trax
With a gas mileage rating similar to that of the Kia Soul, the Chevrolet Trax boasts a Wi-Fi hot spot as well as smartphone connectivity. It also features MyLink infotainment system and a seven-inch touch screen but its interior is not as stylish as the Kia Soul, although it costs more with a price tag of about $21,000.
Hyundai Elantra GT
The Hyundai Elantra GT is a great option that is similar to the Kia Soul but has a more conventional look and feel to it than the odd shape of the Kia Soul. It books for about $19,000 so the price is comparable to the Kia Soul but it does not have as much cargo space. It does have more features , as well as a more powerful engine and its safety features, are rated as excellent.
Mazda CX-3
The Mazda CX-3 has more power than a Kia Soul and is more sporty looking. It also gets a little better gas mileage and has a more stylish, up-to-date interior. It features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which is very appealing to many car buyers and it features an automatic emergency braking system along with a rear cross-traffic alert. It will cost you about $20,000 to purchase.
The Honda Fit
My best friend recently purchased a Honda Fit and absolutely loves it. This vehicle sells for around $16,000 so it is very comparable in price to the Kia Soul. U.S. News gives it a score of 8.8 out of 10 and it is the only vehicle on our list that actually has a little cheaper price tag than the Kia Soul, although only by a few hundred dollars in most cases.
It has been touted as the best subcompact car for the amount of money you pay as well as a great car for teen drivers. It is a front-wheel-drive hatchback that has more space for cargo the most smaller vehicles even though it does not have as much cargo space as the Kia Soul.
It has some of the same standard info and entertainment systems as the Kia Soul and they both come with only a rearview camera though they boast lots of other driver assistant features.
The Jeep Renegade
The Jeep renegade is the type of vehicle that you can squeeze into tight places when looking for a place to park and much like the Kia Soul, it gets lower than average fuel economy but its base engine is more powerful than that of the Kia Soul. It has similar infotainment features as well as safety features as the Kia Soul but a smaller cargo area.
It offers a more rugged interior but it is an off-roader type of vehicle so that is what you would come to expect. It sells for around $22,000.
Honda HR-V
You will pay a little over $20,000 for a Honda HR-V but the vehicle has been refreshed in recent years so it offers more infotainment as well as safety tech features along with a few standard features that it is always had. The cargo area in this vehicle is about the same size as the Kia Soul’s cargo space so both are large for the crossover class A vehicles.
The interior space of this small SUV is designed well but it does not have a high horse-powered engine, although it is very efficient when it comes to gas mileage.
Toyota C-HR
The Toyota C HR is one of the newest vehicles to be added to the ever-changing class of subcompact SUVs and if you are looking for the latest in technology, you will find it in this vehicle since it features a standard eight-inch touchscreen as well as Apple CarPlay. It also sports the Toyota Safety Sense system as one of its many driver assistance tools.
One of the drawbacks is that the cargo room in this compact car is smaller than that of the Kia Soul’s cargo space yet the price tag is a couple of thousand dollars more at around $21,000.
