Mazda3

The Mazda3 has four trim levels: Standard, Select, and Premium, with prices ranging from $20,800 to $34,400. It gets 28 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. In 7.9 seconds, it can go from zero to 60 miles per hour at a top speed of 134 miles per hour.

Although it’s small, the Mazda3 is a well-rounded sports vehicle. Because of its dynamic handling and everyday usability, the Mazda3 is the clear winner. It helps that, among compact cars, the Mazda3’s infotainment system has the fewest distractions.

Mazda’s 3 automobile is available with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as an option. Only the front-wheel-drive version of this car is offered. However, we are most enthused about the 250-hp turbocharged 2.5, which can get activated by an engine upgrade.

Cars Similar to the Mazda3

Looking at a Mazda3 and want to know if you’re making the right choice? I’ve compiled a list of cars that are comparable, from capacity to fuel economy, horsepower, top speed, and more.

Honda Civic

A black honda civic infront of a white building.

With a starting price of $22,350 – $29,850 and mpg of 33 city/ 42 highway, the 2022 Honda Civic is a good choice for families with four or five passengers. Each of the four trim levels (LX, EX, Sport, and Touring) has its distinct collection of characteristics. There’s a top speed of 137mph and it takes 7.8 seconds to go from zero to 60.

Like the Mazda3, you get excellent mileage, similar acceleration and top speed, and a comfy ride. I love the attractive exterior, more spacious and well-designed interior, and affordable pricing, which all add up to a great package. A sedan or a hatchback is available as an option for this vehicle.

To the untrained eye, the Honda Civic Touring looks and feels like a high-end vehicle. The well-equipped EX trim level, which comes with a host of extras, makes up for the higher price tag for sedan shoppers.

A retractable sunroof, dual-zone climate control, heated exterior mirrors, and a heated front seat are all included in this vehicle. A 180 horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine is included as standard equipment.

In terms of the hatchback, we recommend the EX-L, which has all of the same amenities as the standard model but leather seats. Engines with 158 horsepower are standard on the most basic models.

Volkswagen Jetta

A blue Volkswagen jetta with a curtain Volkswagen background.

The Jetta’s starting price ranges from $20,195 to $31,795 with an MPG of 31 in the city and 41 mpg on the freeway. S to R-Line trim levels are available and the vehicle can attain a top speed of 126mph and sprint from 0-60mph in 7.7 seconds while transporting five passengers.

They both have high top speeds, similar acceleration, great mileage, and a similar pricing range.

What I appreciate most about it is how spacious it is, both inside and out, considering its size. A driver can also use a manual transmission if they prefer.

It’s a small machine, but it’s got a lot of punch. While Hyundai’s Elantra may look more vibrant, VW’s Elantra is far quieter and more comfortable to drive. 158 horsepower isn’t enough to get you enthused about this car’s turbo-four.

As an alternative, a manual transmission can be used to offer an additional level of excitement. The Jetta GLI is a good option for those looking for a more exhilarating ride.

Although there is no longer an R-Line model in stock, the Sport model is more sporty. Automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring are standard features of the S model.

Hyundai Elantra

A white Hyundai car with ElantraSE background.

In 2022, the new Hyundai Elantra will be available for purchase with prices ranging from $20,995 to $29,395. When it comes to price, the most economical model is the SEL, a mid-range vehicle.

Wireless smartphone charging and leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob are just a few of the $1,500 SEL Convenience package’s many extras. It takes you to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds and gives a top speed of 155 mph.

Like the Mazda3, you get a decent starting price, four cylinders, and high top speeds.

A front-wheel-drive four-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower and a continuously variable gearbox (CVT) make up the non-hybrid drivetrain. In the hybrid version, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor generate 139 horsepower.

The automatic transmission in the hybrid is in charge of gear changes. Even though it didn’t have the most impressive acceleration, the non-hybrid model we tested had adequate ride quality and enough punch for the ordinary city and highway travel.

There is a performance-oriented Elantra N available for individuals who can’t afford the more expensive N Line model, but it may not be the best option for everyone. Six- or seven-speed dual-clutch transmissions are offered for the 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

Honda Insight

This vehicle is a favorite of mine. EX and Touring models start at $26,775 and $30,805 respectively with an MPG of 55 City/49 Highway. With 151 horsepower, you can reach 114 mph and 60 mph in 7.7 seconds with this car.

The Insight has a similar acceleration time to the Mazda3, some trims have similar pricing and they ride comfortably.

A comfortable interior, great fuel figures, and a smooth ride are just some of the features of this vehicle. The Civic Hybrid is a low-key hybrid sedan that shares many of the Civic’s best features while getting up to 50mpg.

Hyundai Ioniq

Three different color Hyundai Ioniq with Ioniq wall background.

My favorite aspects of this vehicle are how efficient it is, how fun it is to drive and how eco-friendly it is inside. There are seven trim levels to pick from, with prices ranging from $24,645 to $34,295 for the base model. The starting price for the SEL is $29,845. It has a wide range of safety and convenient options.

Some trims have similar pricing to the Mazda3, four cylinders, the same top speed, and a comfy interior.

There are many basic safety features included, such as forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking.

An electric motor and a four-cylinder engine in the Ioniq’s drivetrain produce 139 horsepower and front-wheel drive, respectively. At 134mph, it can go from zero to 60mph in 8.4 seconds thanks to its six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Volkswagen GTI

A Volkswagen GTI on a road.

The Volkswagen GTI’s starting price runs from $29,545 to $38,795, and it seats five people and gets 25 mpg in town and 34 mpg on the highway. With a starting price of $35,290, the most costly trim level is the Autobahn. The GTI is capable of 155 mph top speed and 0-60 mph acceleration in 5.1 seconds.

My favorite feature about the GTI is that, despite its less weight and faster speed, it has the same level of utility. Like the Mazda3 or has a high top speed, some trims with similar pricing, pretty close mpg, and comfy seating.

Like the Mazda3, it has a high top speed, a similar price for some trim levels, a pretty similar hp, and a comfortable ride.

The interior of the automobile has been meticulously designed, with tartan upholstery and the most up-to-date electronics. Because of this, features like dual screens and a new dashboard design are becoming more widespread.

With an increase in horsepower and torque of 15 pound-feet, the turbocharged 4-cylinder now generates 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.

Nissan Sentra

A Nissan Sentra with a blue lights effect.

The base model of the Nissan Sentra costs between $19,510 and $22,100. There are four trim levels based on horsepower: S, SV, SR, and SL. The vehicle’s city MPG is 29 and its highway MPG is 39. 0-60 mph in 9.2 seconds at 130 mph. In total, there are five places to sit.

Like the Mazda3, it has great mpg, low starting price, close top speed, and multiple trim levels.

The interior and outside of the vehicle are both beautiful, and the seats in the front are comfy. Among other things, there are several notable conventional technological elements.

An automatic CVT transmission is standard on Sentra’s front wheels, and it has an engine that makes 149 horsepower. The gearless automated rear suspension uses wheels varying in width from 16 to 18 inches.

Commuters and long-distance travelers alike will appreciate Sentra’s versatility. I was awestruck by the car’s brakes.

Toyota Corolla

A white Toyota Coralla infront of a building.

You may buy a 2022 Corolla for between $20,000 and $28,460 and get mpg in the city: 31mpg, and on the highway: 40mpg. The XLE, SE, and XSE trims have a top speed of 143 mph and a 0-to-60 time of 5.5 seconds, respectively. It can fit up to five people.

The Corolla has a similar starting price to the Mazda3, high mpg and top speed, and a comfortable interior.

The Toyota Corolla is one of my favorite autos due to its affordability and durability. Corolla is a standout when it comes to the long-term durability and resale value.

The Premium interior kit on the LE Hybrid includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leatherette seating surfaces, and power lumbar adjustment for the driver’s seat.

Non-SE/XSE Corolla sedans all have the same 139-hp four-cylinder engine, which is fed to the front wheels via a continuously inconsistent automatic gearbox.

A 6-speed manual transmission is available for individuals who want a sportier drive. Although rival hatchbacks have more powerful engines, the sedan has a hybrid drivetrain.

Subaru Impreza

A blue Subaru Impreza that's confines in a glass.

The Impreza’s EPA-estimated city/highway fuel economy is 28 mpg, and prices range from $18,795 to $26,395 for one. With a top speed of 155 mph and an acceleration time of 9 seconds, the Impreza trims include Premium, Sport, and Limited. It comfortably accommodates five people.

When it comes to budget-conscious driving in snowy areas, the Subaru Impreza is a great option. Flat-folding rear seats, superb infotainment, and a hatchback form with an easily accessible fifth door all combine to make this car desirable.

It packs a similar hp to the Mazda3, game engine, similar mpg, and price range.

The Impreza, equipped with Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist System, comes with a power sunroof, leather seats, and automatic climate control.

A 2.0-liter four-cylinder is the base power plant. Our most impressive interstate mpg figures came from 148 horsepower, even though it drove twice as many wheels as our most fuel-efficient engine.

Dodge Dart

A side front photo of red Dodge Dart.

I appreciate the cabin’s noise-isolation capabilities and roominess. In the Dart’s interior, techies will find a feast for their eyes. This compact sedan is jam-packed with the latest in automotive technology.

A Dodge Dart will cost you $20,000.00. The city has an mpg of 28 and the highway has an mpg of 41. The SE, SXT, Aero, GT, and Limited trim levels are all available on the Dart, which has a top speed of 120 mph. From zero to sixty in under 8.2 seconds, this vehicle can fit five people.

The Mazda3, which is identical to the Dodge Dart in terms of seating capacity, engine capacity, fuel economy, and beginning price, also has a four-cylinder engine. FWD, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a 160-hp 2.0L four-cylinder engine are standard equipment in the original design.

The 2.0 and 2.4-liter engines come with six-speed automatic transmissions as standard equipment. With an 8.4-inch touchscreen and a variety of style packs to choose from, customers can customize the device to their liking.

Subaru WRX

A blue Subaru WRX with a purple light strip background.

You get a starting price range of $27,495 – $41,945 for the Subaru WRX, with an EPA estimate of city/highway fuel economy of 19 mpg. The three trim levels are Basic, Premium, and Limited, with a top speed of 155 mph. It takes 4.7 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph.

Like the Mazda3, it has a great top speed, horsepower pushing over 250, and a comfy ride.

There is still a thrill to the journey, even if the ride is more comfortable and silent. A flat-four turbocharged 2.4-liter engine powers the WRX. There are two transmission options for the 271 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque: a CVT or a six-speed manual.

All WRX models have all-wheel drive as standard. There are three driving modes to choose from when utilizing the paddle shifters on the steering wheel with an automatic transmission.

Hyundai Veloster N

A light blue Hyundai Veloster N on a car show.

With a starting price of between $32,500 and $34,000, you can expect to get 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway with a Veloster N. Only one trim level is available, and it has five seats, a top speed of 149 miles per hour, and takes 5.5 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 60 miles per hour.

Like the Mazda3 it packs 250+ hp, prices similar for some trim levels, and high top.

My favorite features include exceptional value, a joy to drive no matter how challenging the weather, and unexpected utility. This car is powered by a 275-horsepower turbo-four. A three-door hatchback from Hyundai is as striking to look at as it is to drive.

Optional transmissions include a smooth-shifting manual or a powerful dual-clutch automatic.

Kia Forte

A Kia Forte beside a yellow car.

Stylish, well-equipped, reasonable, and starting at $19,090 to $24,490 are just a few of the things I enjoy about the Kia Forte. The FE, LXS, GT-LIne, EX, and GT trim levels of this five-seater get 31 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway, respectively. In 6.7 seconds, you can get from zero to 120 miles per hour.

Like the Mazda3, the Forte has a low starting price, multiple trim levels, four cylinders, similar mpg, and an overall comfortable ride.

In addition, the grille, front and back bumpers, exterior lighting, and wheel designs have all been reworked. The 2018 model has a new 10.3-inch multimedia display and a plethora of new driver-assist technologies.

The Forte has a sport sedan look and feels for a reasonable price. An efficient four-cylinder powerplant and a chassis that prioritizes ride quality over handling distinguish the Forte from the competition. The 201 horsepower GT is the most powerful version of the car.
