About the 2022 Toyota RAV4

Twenty-five years ago, the Toyota RAV4 came into existence, helping to initiate the crossover SUV market. Despite the proliferation of crossover SUVs throughout the years, the RAV4 remains the planet’s top-selling sport utility vehicle.

The price, added features, trims, performance, fuel efficiency, and more, for the Toyota RAV4’s 2022 model you’ll find as you continue reading.

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 is largely unchanged from last year’s version, therefore it’s not a completely new vehicle. Nonetheless, the RAV4’s trim levels have seen a few modest tweaks. The SE Hybrid trim is the most important change.

Despite its stylish looks and impressive performance, this trim is significantly less expensive than the XSE Hybrid model.

About the 2022 Toyota 4Runner

The 1GR-FE 4.0-liter V-6 engine in today’s 4Runner has been making its presence felt from the early 2000s, and the current model of the vehicle has been introduced with only minimal revisions for the past 12 years.

If you are looking for a vehicle like the Nissan Pathfinder or the Ford Explorer, you’ll have to settle for a model like the Toyota RAV4.

You’re not able to take off the 4Runner’s doors and roof, however, the liftgate has a rear window that rolls down and it has been a trademark of this model for many years now. A new hue- Lime Rush, is not my typical color but I must admit, it looks nice.

Toyota 4Runner vs Rav4

These are two great vehicles, which are built for different things. So let’s look at every facet side by side.

Fueled by gasoline, the 4Runner has a 4.0-liter V6 engine, whilst the Rav4 has a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. It’s no surprise that the former has 270 HP, about seventy more than the latter’s 203 HP, with that kind of engine disparity.

That’s a significant upgrade for the RAV4, which had 176 horsepower not so long ago. In terms of off-road prowess, the 4Runner is a better choice than the RAV4, even though they both drive nicely.

Performance

A variety of off-road options are available for both vehicles. The RAV4 clears the ground by 8.6 inches, with TRD-tuned suspension, as well as tires for all terrains.

With its 9.6-inch of clearance from the ground, the 4Runner is a great choice for those looking to take their vehicle on the trails.

Safety

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner as well as the Toyota RAV4 both seat five passengers, but the 4Runner may be equipped to seat seven. As a result, the RAV4 offers 37.6 to 37.5 cubic feet of backseat storage space. That’s with a maximum capacity of 69.8 cubic feet.

The all-wheel-drive RAV4 also comes with a front-wheel-drive option.

Top Speed

The 2022 4Runner gives you 0-60 MPH in 7.7 seconds with a top speed of 114 mph. Meanwhile, the 2022 RAV4 takes 7.4 seconds to reach 60-mph, but the gas-only model takes 8 seconds. The Prime does the sprint in only 5.4 seconds. Its top speed is 112 miles per hour.

The Bottom Line

For the most part, the choice between a 2022 Toyota 4Runner or RAV4 comes down to what an individual prefers. I like the look and comfort of the RAV4 for my family and moving about daily.

However, Hill Start Assist Control and 9.6-inch ground clearance make the 2022 4Runner a better choice for off-road aficionados like myself.

The Toyota 4Runner has greater power and capacity, but the Toyota RAV4 provides superior fuel economy while still delivering excellent performance. Not enough for me to choose it over the 4Runner though.
