When searching for luxury cars like the Audi A7 and A6, you should have a fun experience, right? Of course! But it is also important to make sure you are getting the best car with the best features for your unique needs – because that’s what luxury is all about, right?

Follow along to get the inside scoop on how these two cars differ and compare, so you can make an informed decision on your purchase. You’ll feel better driving around in your new ride, knowing you have all the information!

What is the Audi A7?

Since 2010, Audi has been manufacturing the executive luxury coupe known as the A7. It is a five-door liftback with four frameless doors and a sloping roofline, equipped with a steeply slanted rear window and integrated boot lid, creating the so-called “Sportback” look that these types of vehicles are well-known for.

The Audi A7 is designed with even more bells and whistles in mind than its predecessors, including, but not limited to:

Fuel Efficiency

You expect your luxury car to have good gas mileage, and with the Audi A7, you should expect nothing less. The fuel efficiency for this vehicle comes in at 24 miles per gallon, which is great for any car.

Combined with 7-speed transmission, the Audi A7 has everything you need to get you where you need to go in style – without having to take those extra stops to the gas station.

Virtual Cockpit

You’ll feel in control throughout the entire drive with the Audi A7’s virtual cockpit. This feature allows the driver to see any other drivers, obstructions, parking lots, rest stops, or restaurants in their immediate vicinity while driving.

This is completely customizable, as the driver can also pick and choose what appears on the screen. Gone are the days of searching for a place to park or a bite to eat – simply view it right from your personalized virtual cockpit, click, and go!

Remote Park Assist

Need help parking your car? No problem! The Audi A7’s remote park assist feature has got you covered. With this feature, you can maneuver your vehicle into both parallel and perpendicular parking spaces through remote automation.

Tough parking spot you don’t trust yourself to try? We get it – the Audi A7 can make it happen for you. In fact, you don’t even need to be inside the vehicle while it’s parking! Through the remote automation, you can control when the car parks while you are outside of the vehicle.

What is the Audi A6?

While the Audi A6 is an earlier version of this type of luxury vehicle, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t come equipped with its own unique benefits. Front-wheel drive or Torsen-based four-wheel drive have been available in all A6 versions. This is known as the Audi Quattro system, and since 1999, the A6 has served as the foundation for the company’s Allroad variants.

So, if you’re living in a climate or you partake in activities where the four-wheel drive would be preferable, this just might be the vehicle for you. Features of the Audi A6 that you should take into consideration include, but are not limited to:

Driving Tech Drive Features for Any Drive

You might be surprised to notice that the Audi A6 and Audi A7 actually come with a lot of the same technology features. Much like the A7, the A6 also comes equipped with virtual cockpit and remote park assist features (see above).

Additionally, the Audi A6 comes with 335 horsepower and reaches 0-60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds. Wow! With this impressive speed, you’re sure to be the talk of the town – just make sure to continue following all speed and traffic safety laws.

Drive Features for Any Drive

As we mentioned earlier, the Audi A6 comes equipped with either front-wheel drive or Torsen-based four-wheel drive. Do you find yourself driving through harsh weather or uneven terrains? If so, these features can help keep both you and your car safe during the drive.

With the Audi A6, you can rest assured knowing your vehicle will get you to your intended destination – no matter what you may weather.

Power Adjustable Steering

We believe this feature of the Audi A6 goes hand-in-hand with its other drive features (see above). With power adjustable steering, you can make sure you are in control of your vehicle at all times, no matter the road you’re driving.

This feature is a great benefit to any vehicle, as it can help you maneuver through both easy and difficult drives. With this added convenience, you’ll be able to take on any road trip with confidence!

Performance of the A7 vs. A6

In terms of performance, the Audi A7 and A6 are fairly comparable. There are some slight differences; for example, while the A7 is designed more for style, the A6 was originally designed more for aerodynamics.

Either way, you’re getting a car that has horsepower and MPG you may not get in other luxury cars. If performance specifically is what you’re after, then the A6 may be the better option for you; however, either car will get you where you need to go with maximum efficiency!

Price Differences Between the Audi A6 and A7

While they are different models, you may notice that depending on the year of the vehicle you purchase, prices may not vary all too much. For the A6, you should be able to purchase a vehicle ranging between $55,000-$70,000. While this is indeed pricy, it’s fairly standard for Audi luxury car pricing.

Since the A7 is a newer model, you’ll likely be looking at the higher end of luxury car pricing. You may be able to find an Audi A7 in the higher-60k range, but for the most part, you’ll likely look at spending closer to $70,000. So, if you’re looking to save some cash on your vehicle, the A6 may be the better option for you.

Design Features of the Audi A6 and A7

As we’ve touched upon earlier, the Audi A7 is designed more for style, while the Audi A6 is built more for speed. If you’re looking for your classic luxury car to show off, then the A7 is likely the one for you. From its sleek elegance to its hexagonal grille, there’s a lot to fawn over with the A7.

While the A6 isn’t built with as many looks in mind, it’s still a car highly worth bragging over. With many of the same internal features, both cars are designed with luxury and user convenience in mind.

Durability of the Audi A6 and A7

Even though these are luxury cars, it doesn’t mean they aren’t built to last. In fact, with robust safety features and external materials, you can rest assured you’ll be purchasing a car that will last for multiple years to come.

Since these cars are on the pricier side, you’ll be happy to know that Audis are durable and strong. So your money will be well spent on a car that will follow you along any and all of the rest of the trips you please!

History Behind the Audi A6 and Audi A7

In 1997, Audi replaced the previous Audi 100 model in the executive car market with the first-generation A6. The new A6 was first seen as more of an Audi 100 facelift and was offered to the general public in two body types: sedan and avant.

The Audi A6 models we see today are all variations of those two original models, and all still embody a lot of the same characteristics – although tech features certainly have changed since its introduction in the 90s!

The Audi A7, since it’s a newer model, is much younger than the A6. It was first introduced in 2009 and has gained a lot of popularity in the decade since. In 2014 it went through a slight refresh, with the addition of the fast-back, four-door coupe. Looking for a car with all the updated bells and whistles? If so, the A7 is the way to go.

Which one to Choose?

We get how difficult it may be when choosing to buy a new car because it’s a significant financial commitment and you want to be sure you’re picking the best one!

As you now have realized, the Audi A7 and A6, while similar in features, also have some distinct differences to take into consideration. Either way you go, you’ll be getting a car you’re sure to love, for many years to come.
