14 Cars Similar to the Audi TT

Daytime view of an Audi TT MK3 on an asphalt city road near an airport.

The Audi TT is offered in two different models, the roadster and the coupe. The Roadster is an identical clone of the Audi TT Coupe. The only difference is that the Roadster has a convertible top.

The TT boasts an appealing appearance and a highly posh interior with all of the latest technology you’d want. The time spent behind the wheel is enjoyable as well. Hard-top variants of the TT are quite light, weighing less than 3,200 pounds, and base models can accelerate to 60 miles per hour in just more than five seconds.

Additionally, the TT is fantastic in any kind of weather since it comes standard with all-wheel drive. However, the TT is not the only stylish pair of wheels by any stretch of the imagination, which is precisely why we have compiled this list of captivating alternatives to the TT.

1. BMW Z4

On a warm day, a red BMW Z4 is parked in the roadway in front of Autumn Park.

The Z4 is nimble when it comes to navigating corners, and the ride it provides is unruffled. The standard engine has good gas mileage in comparison to others in its category, while the optional engine has good acceleration. This two-seat roadster has a luxurious interior and seats that have been almost entirely redesigned with more aggressive driving in mind.

An easy-to-use information and entertainment system and a trunk that is a respectable size contribute to its all-around attractiveness. With a starting price of $49,900, the 2022 BMW Z4 is one of the premium sports vehicles with the most competitive pricing structure.

This price is the manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the Z4 sDrive30i, whereas the performance-oriented Z4 M40i has a base price of $63,700.

Even after adding all of the available extras to a Z4, it can still be had for far less money than the most expensive models in its class, which may cost up to $75,000.

The 2022 BMW Z4 has two engines that are both good choices. If you’re looking for something with a little more muscle, the optional six-cylinder turbocharged engine is a good choice. The Z4’s six-cylinder engine enables it to accelerate rapidly from a standstill and breeze past slower cars when driving on the highway.

2. Porsche 718

The Porsche 718 Spyder convertible sports car was on display at the 2020 Auto Salon.

Porsche raises the temperature of the Cayman line even more with the addition of the track-oriented GT4 RS model, which has a starting price of $61,850. It utilizes the 4.0-liter flat-six engine that is found in the amazing 911 GT3, and it has been adjusted to produce 493 horsepower.

Additionally, the 718 has had its suspension as well as aerodynamics modified to reduce lap times. On Porsche Cayman, the company provides a selection of very powerful engines.

The base model comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower, while the flat-four, 2.5-liter engine that is turbocharged in the S trim level is responsible for producing 350 horsepower.

The Cayman’s aural problems are resolved because of its naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine. The six-cylinder engine not only produces enticing sounds, but also develops 394 horsepower in the GTS 4.0, 414 in the GT4, and 493 in the new GT4 RS. Each model comes equipped with a snappy six-speed manual gearbox.

This is possibly the greatest one available on the market. This transmission comes as part of the package irrespective of whatever engine you pick.

3. Chevrolet Corvette

3d illustration of Chevrolet Corvette driving on the road.

The Chevrolet Corvette has a starting price of $55,495 and comes standard with a 6.2-liter, 460-horsepower V8 engine that may be mated to either a 7-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This engine transfers all of its power to the back wheels. The time it takes the Chevy to go from zero to sixty miles per hour is only 3.7 seconds.

Furthermore, its handling is on par with its performance.

The cabin is serviceable without being particularly remarkable considering the price, but the outside successfully communicates the essence of the Corvette. If you’re in a snow-prone area, you’ll have to settle for second-car status with a Corvette since there is no all-wheel-drive system available.

4. Alfa Romeo 4C

The Alfa Romeo 4C sports car is parked close to the trees on the gravel road.

This is a mid-engine sports vehicle, and even though its engine has a displacement of just 1.75 liters, owing to a turbocharger, it develops a robust 237 horsepower and can reach 60 miles per hour in little more than four seconds.

The 4C has an exotic appearance and quick handling because of its lightweight and mostly carbon-fiber architecture; yet, the vehicle is difficult to drive and is lacking in both luxury and conveniences.

The 4C is a vehicle best suited for mild climates and is not one that you will want to use daily. You will, however, have a great time whenever you do decide to bring it along with you. The 4C Coupe will not be produced again for the 2019 model year, but the 4C Spyder will continue to be offered, with pricing beginning at about $66,000.

5. Cadillac CT5

The Cadillac CT5 is an appealing little luxury automobile that offers a lot of space. The CT5 is available in two different body designs, a coupe, and a sedan, and can accommodate a maximum of five people in its various trim levels.

The Cadillac may be the right choice for you if competitive pricing, multiple amenities, excellent safety ratings, and impressive performance are what you’re after.

The CT5 always has a higher maximum horsepower than the TT does, regardless of the trim level. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine that comes standard in the ATS outperforms the engines used in many of its rivals. In addition to that, there are two V6 engines available.

The top-tier model is equipped with a strong V6 engine that generates 464 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds.

6. Porsche 718 Cayman

A red Porsche 718 Cayman car parked at the side of the road.

The base model of the Porsche 718 Cayman costs $56,900 and is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower, with the ability to accelerate the vehicle to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds or less. Whereas all drive is fantastic for traction, it does come with a few drawbacks, the most notable of which is an increase in weight.

The Cayman has none of these issues, and its layout has a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration for improved weight distribution as well as the excellent handling that customers have come to expect from Porsche vehicles.

This additional weight over the rear axle also contributes to the Cayman’s remarkable ability to perform well in adverse weather conditions The soft-top version of the Boxster is also available for customers who like a more al-fresco driving experience.

7. Volkswagen Golf R

A white Volkswagen Golf R car parked outside the building.

The Volkswagen Golf R has a base price of $39,785, making it a little more wallet-friendly than the Audi TT, despite having more horsepower, being heavier, going faster, and having more cargo space.

Despite their very dissimilar exteriors, the two automobiles have a great deal in common. Both have all-wheel drive, and both employ a turbocharged four-cylinder engine displacing 2.0 liters; however, the Golf R‘s engine produces 292 horsepower, which is an increase of 64 above the TT’s standard output.

The inside of the Golf R is really lovely, and there is plenty of space for four people. The R can go up to 60 miles per hour in less than 5 seconds. It also handles turns well; however, because of its increased weight and greater center of gravity, it is not nearly as agile as the TT.

8. Porsche Boxter

A black Porsche Boxtercar side view shot on night time.

This is a two-seater convertible that achieves various high scores in addition to having exceptional performance. It is the premium sports vehicle that has been rated the highest overall. This sports car shines with a high expected level of dependability.

It also has a great interior and pricing that is on par with other vehicles in its class. Even though the price of the convertible TT is lower, this Porsche is a better deal if you have been considering purchasing a sports car. When comparing the performance of the 718 Boxster with the TT, the Porsche comes out on top.

The sporty roadster is both entertaining and quick, which is a combo that is difficult to topple.

9. BMW 2 Series

You should consider getting the BMW 2 convertible instead of the Audi TT convertible if you’re on the fence between the two. The BMW 2 Series convertible is one of the premium convertibles with the lowest starting prices.

The performance of BMW vehicles is renowned for being among the best, and the brand offers a selection of powerful engines to support this reputation. Drivetrains with all-wheel drive are an available upgrade over the normal rear-wheel drive. A coupe version of the 2 Series may also be purchased.

The 2 series also has a lot of safety features. For example, it’s equipped with adaptive cruise control and an emergency service notification system. In addition, it receives the highest possible grade of Good from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for its performance in crash tests.

10. Mercedes Benz E-Class

Take into consideration the Mercedes-Benz E-Class if you have your heart set on a coupe or convertible but still need additional room (and are willing to accept a drop in performance). The standard engine in the E-Class generates 241 hp, and it comes standard with enhanced safety systems and a flawless rating for crashworthiness.

The E-Class is offered in a variety of trims and powertrains, with prices ranging widely across the board. The starting price for the standard E300 coupe is $58,900, and it can seat four people. All-wheel drive is not included as standard equipment as it is on the TT, but it may be purchased as an option.

11. Lexus RC

The Lexus RC in a red color spotlighted at the auto show.

The Lexus RC is a great alternative to the Audi TT. It comes with a plethora of standard and optional amenities, in addition to having a sophisticated interior design, superb build quality, a calm ride, and lots of other features. The RC is only available in the form of a sleek coupe and makes every effort to present itself as a performance-oriented option.

In this area, though, it falls short, with a basic engine that is barely acceptable and handling that is poor in comparison to the other options available. The selling price of the 2022 Lexus RC 300 is $42,220, which is above average for the class. The price of entry for the more affordable RC 350 is $45,250.

The base model of the RC 300 is equipped with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 241 hp; however, this engine is only available in the rear-wheel-drive version of the vehicle.

The substantial weight of the automobile makes acceleration less pleasant, but it does help to get you started. If you choose the RC 300 variant with all-wheel drive, you’ll get a V6 engine that produces 260 hp. On the other hand, the RC 350 comes standard with a V6 engine that generates 311 hp.

This is in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

12. Audi A5

The Audi A5 is a viable option if you want to stick with Audi. When you purchase an Audi A5, you receive the luxurious interior that Audi is known for, along with space for up to five people in the A5 Sportback type. Both the coupe and the convertible provide seating for four people.

All-wheel drive is standard on the Audi A5, just as it is on the Audi TT. The powertrain of the basic model of the Audi A5 is a four-cylinder turbocharged unit that produces 252 horsepower. The A5 has a respectable combined fuel economy, scoring 24 miles per gallon in the city and 34 miles per gallon on the highway.

Consider upgrading to the 354-horsepower, turbocharged V6 engine for your sports vehicle if you want a more thrilling driving experience. The A5 is a well-rounded premium vehicle that deserves to be on your short list of candidates, regardless of which engine you opt for.

13. Jaguar F-Type

Another excellent alternative to the Audi TT is Jaguar’s F-type sports car. The base, the R-Dynamic, and the R are the three different trim levels that are offered for the 2022 Jaguar F-Type. The coupe and convertible are the two different body types that are offered.

All of them are built with about the same basic components and amenities. The most important distinction is behind the hood. Both a standard and a supercharged variant of Jaguar’s 5.0-liter V-8 engine will be available for the 2022 F-Type.

The F-Type R delivers 575 hp, whereas the standard model as well as the R-Dynamic variant both make 444 horsepower. The rear-wheel-drive configuration and an automatic gearbox with eight speeds are both standard, while the option to have an all-wheel drive is available.

The base price of the Jaguar F-Type is $71,300, which places it in the middle to the upper end of the pricing spectrum for premium sports cars. The sportier F-Type R comes with a price tag that is almost $105,000 higher than the standard model.

14. 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata

The front end, grill, headlights, and wheel features of the Mazda MX-5 Miata.

The 2022 Mazda Miata is a great sports vehicle. This two-seat convertible is a blast to drive, particularly on twisting switchback roads, where its active steering and agile handling can transform even the most monotonous commute into an exciting thrill trip.

Its four-cylinder powertrain is fast and exciting to wring out, but it is still thrifty at the petrol pump, and it maneuvers the little Miata about with relative ease. The Miata has a luxurious interior that is well constructed, and it is loaded with a wide variety of technological and safety features. A beginning price that is lower than $28,000 is also desirable in this case.

A four-cylinder engine of 2.0 liters and producing 181 hp as well as 151 pound-feet of torque is standard equipment in the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata. The basic drivetrain is a six-speed manual gearbox with rear-wheel drive, while an automatic gearbox with the same number of gears is available as an option.

That may not seem like a lot of power, but it’s more than enough to move the lightweight Miata confidently through corners. The Mazda Miata delivers a straightforward and conventional performance, which has been a defining characteristic of this open-top roadster for more than three decades. The steering is fast and beautifully weighted.

Furthermore, the Miata’s stiff suspension does an excellent job of limiting body lean while slicing through corners. Both of these attributes contribute to the vehicle’s overall performance.
