BMW 4-Series

The 14 trim levels of the 2022 BMW 4 Series range in price from $45,200 to $86,300. Only a select few premium compacts can offer flair and performance at the same time. Everything I’m looking for in an automobile is found in this vehicle, which is both powerful and agile.

The Gran Coupe’s speed and handling are well-balanced; it offers a wide load area, as well as a variety of basic options.

On the other hand, the car’s exorbitant starting price and depressing interior are detractors.

It gets 16 to 26 mpg city, 23 to 34 mpg highway, and can be had in either RWD or AWD configurations for the 4/5-seater. It has a 4.4-second 0-60 mph time and a 4.4-second 130 mph top speed.

14 Cars Similar to BMW 4 Series

Here are several cars similar to the 3 Series in several ways, including:

  • Powertrain
  • Price
  • Fuel economy
  • Seating
  • Storage and more

1. 2022 BMW 3 Series

Starting at $41,450, the BMW 3 Series in 2022 comes offering 15 distinct trim level options, with prices ranging from $41,450 to $76,900. There are better luxury little cars out there, but the cabin’s moderate-quality precludes it from being included in that list.

Two rows of seats are roomy and comfortable, and it comes with a variety of strong engine options.

It’s not as lavish as some of its rivals, though. The digital instrument panel of 2022 M3’s instrument packet makes all-wheel drive an option instead of a standard element.

A 5-seater RWD or AWD vehicle can get you between 16 and 26 mpg in the city plus 23 and 36 mpg on the interstate. It reaches a top speed of 155 mph in less than four seconds.

2. 2022 Genesis G70

Front view of a white-colored Genesis G70 luxury sedan parked.

For the G70 Genesis, the base price of $37,525 sounds reasonable to a wide range of customers. Even if you’re a fan of driving it, you can still be dissatisfied by the lack of storage capacity.

When it comes to performance, there’s no shortage of punch in this car. The V6’s infotainment setup is easy to use, but the back seats are small and even the trunk is constrained.

The 2020 model year will not feature a manual transmission, but the interior and exterior appearance have been improved.

AWD or RWD, this five-seater can get you 17 to 21 in the city/25-31 along the highway mpg with any option. The automobile can go from 0-60 mph in seven seconds and has a top speed of 252 horsepower.

3. 2022 Audi A5

A brandnew white Audi A5 in a dealer showroom.

With an MSRP of $43,500 to $76,200, the 2022 Audi A5 is outstanding. Two of the A5’s best attributes, in my opinion, are the car’s excellent output from a variety of powerful engines and its snappy handling. It has a luxurious and well-equipped interior.

This automobile stands out for its improved interior materials and exciting engine options, as well as its agile handling and relaxing ride.

Despite being simple to use, technology components aren’t free. The trunk space in a coupe or convertible is limited. In 2022, the RS 5’s offered features and bundles will be simplified with the inclusion of WiFi Android Auto.

Mpg ranges from 18-25 in the city to 25-34 on the highway, with a maximum capacity of four persons. The AWD engine has a horsepower range of 201 to 444. 6.8 seconds is all it takes to go from zero to 60 miles per hour.

4. 2022 Mercedes-Benz C Class

Front view of a gleaming Mercedes Benz C Class parked near the river.

Thinking about testing the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C Class? Its starting price is $44,600 and goes up to $48,550 for the top trim.

This car is on the top five of our list of the greatest little luxury automobiles. Even though the car has a lot of power and style, its handling is only average.

The Exclusive trim level boasts a 360-degree video operation, self-parking, smart device wireless charging, plus an excellent sound set up from Burmester, which I can’t help but fancy and you will too.

On the trunk lids of all C-class vehicles in 2022 is the C300 engine’s designation, which is a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder. A 48-volt hybrid system can boost the turbo four’s production by up to 20 horses. With a 0-60 mph time of six seconds, Mercedes-Benz believes that the C300 is a quick car.

The car’s greatest speed is limited to 132 mph, although it can reach 60 mph in less than six seconds.

5. 2022 Audi A4

Front view of Audi A4 at sunset overlooking the mountains.

Prices for the A4’s 252-365 horsepower range from $39,900 to $51,900 on the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). The 2022 Audi A4 has a powerful engine, excellent handling, and a gorgeous cabin, all of which I admire about this car.

There’s just room for one person’s luggage in the trunk or maybe two carry-on bags. If you fold the seat, that will help.

It’s easy to operate the touch screen controls, and the interior delivers an upscale yet comfortable vibe. In terms of 2022, not much has changed.

This five-passenger vehicle comes in nine different powertrain configurations ranging from 201 to 349 horsepower. On city streets, you’ll get 20-25 mpg, while on highways, you’ll score 28-34 mpg. It reaches 60 mph in less than five seconds from a standstill.

6. 2022 Kia Stinger

A glossy red Kia Stinger on display at the Auto Show.

Starting prices for the six Stinger models for 2022 range from $36,090 to $53,490. Stinger’s powerful engines, generous storage space, and user-friendly technologies allow it to compete in the premium small vehicle market.

Making a point-by-point breakdown of the pros and cons of the product in question. In addition to the turbocharged engines as well as the included entertainment and driver-aid technologies, I’m intrigued by the vehicle. In its class, this car has a low beginning price and a large amount of cargo space.

The building’s interior and exterior have been remodeled for the year 2022. The active safety features include a 10.25-inch touch screen as well as basic safety measures.

Using an AWD drivetrain with 300-368 horsepower, the five-seater can get 17-22mpg in the city and 24-32mpg on the highway. It achieves 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and reaches 167 mph at its top speed.

7. The Acura TLX

Display of glossy black Acura TLX together with other cars at the back.

It’s hard to go wrong with the Acura TLX for 2018. The Audi A7 has it all: a powerful engine, nimble handling, and top-notch safety features. I like the car’s more aggressive looks.

Other drivers will take notice of your TLX when you’re out and about in it. The 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 272 hp but only manages 22/31 mpg in fuel economy. Your horsepower will rise to about 350 if you opt for the V6 engine.

The V6 engine provides quick acceleration from 0 to 60 mph, with a high speed of 173 mph possible. Beginning at $44,450, the TLX’s base price is an important selling point. At this price, the TLX is an excellent value. Trim comes in four different levels.

The technology trim and higher have standard features such as cross-traffic alert when backing up along with blind-spot monitoring. The TLX receives a pristine five-star rating from the NHTSA.

8. 2022 Cadillac CT4

Display of gleaming blue Cadillac CT4 in an auto show.

Cadillac CT4 prices range from $33,695 for the 248-503 horsepower model to $58,995 for the top-of-the-line model. That includes five different trims. The CT4’s blistering acceleration and tooth-grinding handling are undeniable, but they are tempered by the cramped interior.

There is no overall grade or score if there is no extensive testing for crash safety and reliability. You can expect to find innovative concepts for the powering of your car and a suspension plus steering that work together perfectly.

Multiple active safety measures are included and the use of the system is straightforward. The backseats are a tight fit and the trunk’s storage capacity is as well.

Cabin design and construction need improvement.

In 2022, what can we expect? The CT4 Blackwing’s most sumptuous CT4 Super Cruise is at your fingertips. Many more choices have been added to the menu.

All standard features, including automatic high-beam illumination, lane-keeping assistance, and wireless device charging, are included.

The city mpg for the CT4 ranges from 16 to 23, while the highway mpg is from 24 to 34. An all-wheel drivetrain with 235 to 325 horsepower is available in both the all-wheel and front-wheel drive shaft modes.

9. 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia

Front view of alfa romeo giulia car on the road fall season.

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia is available in seven distinct trim levels, ranging in price from $42,950 to $78,830. Inside, the Giulia falls short of rival Alfa Romeo models in terms of quality.

Then, what’s the point? Many things remain, such as the car’s responsive handling, powerful engines that provide a smooth ride, and supportive front seats, but the back seats are cramped, and the price is prohibitive. The Veloce trim was introduced in 2022, replacing the sporty features and specifications.

With a 280-505hp RWD/AWD drivetrain, this five-passenger vehicle might get 17-24 mpg city/highway and 25-33 mpg highway, depending on driving circumstances. You can achieve a top speed of 191 mph quickly, since getting to 60 mph already takes only three seconds.

10. 2023 Volvo S60

The 2022 Volvo S60’s starting price ranges from $38,950 to $64,800. Depending on the trim level, you’ll have access to a distinct set of features and accessories.

Volvo’s 2022 S60 has a good thing going for it, but it falls short on my list of the best small luxury vehicles for the money because of its limited trunk. Lexus IS might not even be your best option just because of that.

It’s well-built inside and out, with plenty of room for five people, and the efficient engines are a major selling point for me. Driver assistance features are more extensive than ever before, although the car’s trunk is smaller.

The Volvo S60 can achieve 21-23 mpg in the city and 32-34 mpg along the highway thanks to its 247-415 hp FWD / AWD drivetrains. The top speed is 112 miles per hour, and the 0-60 mph acceleration time is 4.7 seconds.

11. 2023 Jaguar XF

In addition to its well-designed cabin and rapid handling, this car has a lot to offer. The S trim, which starts at $53,975, is the most economical.

Jaguar’s three five-seat XF trim levels (P300 R-Dynamic SE, P250SE, and P250S) come in a variety of configurations, each with its own set of features and options. Both the S and SE use the same turbo four-cylinder engine. However, only the SE is available with an all-wheel drive.

The Jaguar XF sedan has a top speed of 121 miles per hour, making it one of the fastest sedans on the road. The Jaguar XF sedan comes standard with the following features: 28mpg combined with a split-folding back seat.

12. 2022 Acura ILX

Back and side view of white color acura ilx.

Depending on the variant, the Acura ILX 2022’s sticker price can range from $26,500 to $32,400. The presence of this car will make your travel more enjoyable.

The 2022 ILX has four options, making it one of the greatest subcompact premium sedans on the market today. For those who want to maximize their vehicle’s value, the additional top-tier option includes upgraded infotainment and improved driver assistance features.

Only a 201-horsepower four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission are offered.

The vehicle gets excellent gas mileage, is smooth to drive, and comes at a fair price. Getting comfy in the back seats is tough, and the infotainment system is difficult to operate.

City 34 and Highway 24 are both within reach thanks to this five-passenger automobile FWD power. The top speed is 130 mph and 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds with this vehicle.

13. 2022 Infiniti Q50

Silver-colored Infiniti 60 car presented on a glossy floor with a gray wall background.

For a starting price of $42,100 base level and up to $57,950 for the top trim, the Infiniti Q50’s output ranges from 255 to 503. It’s possible to choose from six levels of personalization.

A victory in my book because it’s well-built and the seats are comfortable. Some of its competitors are faster and more up-to-date, but this one is a little slower and less modern.

This automobile entices buyers with its powerful engines and roomy, comfortable interior, but its handling and ride quality falls short of the mark.

You’re bored to tears with the in-car entertainment system. With a 300 to 400 hp engine and an RWD motor, this 5-seater gets 19-20mpg city and 26-29mpg highway. It takes 4.5 seconds to go from 0-60 mph.

14. Lexus IS

A display of a shiny Lexus IS on a white floor.

A $40,200 automobile comes with a dramatic exterior design, a first-rate cabin, and comfy front seats that I like for the price. The car comes in a total of five unique models.

To get the best performance out of the IS500, you’ll have to pay a premium. This five-passenger vehicle has a top speed of 143 miles per hour.

If money is a concern, the vehicle’s mid-level rear-wheel-drive IS350 F Sport trim provides nearly all of the vehicle’s performance appeals.

Additional features include 19-inch wheels with F Sport exhaust and F Sport exhaust, an F Sport limited-slip back diff, and a cold air intake in this package.

In terms of horsepower, the IS300 features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, the IS350 has a 311-horsepower V-6, and the Sports Performance edition has a 472-horsepower V-8. That engine doesn’t excite me.

The V-8-powered IS500 is faster than the RWD IS350 F Sport from 0-60 mph in slightly over four seconds. The V-6 IS350 may get up to 19/28 mpg, while the IS500 gets up to 17/25 mpg, depending on driving conditions. The IS300 has a city/highway fuel economy of 21/31 mpg.
