The Volvo V60 is a perfect alternative for people that want the benefits of an SUV in a smaller size. The V60 comes with a slew of new features like semi-autonomous driving, an air purifier, a head-up display and so much more. Two trims are available with pricing starting at $47,295 to $68,395.
I suggest the Polestar Engineered trim because it offers an electric-only mode and a larger engine. We wouldn’t blame you for going with Cross Country if your budget doesn’t allow for the $68,395 price tag.
Cross Country models are powered by a four-cylinder turbo that makes 250-horsepower and all-wheel drive is standard. 0-60 takes this model 6.4 seconds. Polestar models are equipped with a four-cylinder plug-in-hybrid that is mated to both a turbo and supercharger with two electric motors.
This model makes 455-horsepower and does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph.
For the Cross Country, fuel economy is rated at 22 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and an estimated 25 mpg combined. Plug-in-hybrid models earn a combined 74 MPGe and an additional 41 miles using electric-only mode.
The interior of the V60 is flawless, with a spacious cabin and a great cabin. The materials are great and give you a more upscale feel. Unfortunately, Volvo’s infotainment system has had some lag problems which limit what you can do before it fully starts.

Audi’s A4 Allroad is a perfect balance between a car and an SUV. It provides many car-like qualities with a very rugged design. Only one powertrain is available, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 261-horsepower.
It also comes with a 12-volt hybrid system. All-wheel drive is standard and it is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. 0-60 takes 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.
Three trims are offered and pricing begins at $46,595 to $56,495. The Premium Plus trim sits in the middle and is our recommendation. It adds features like Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, lane-keep assist, keyless entry, and sensors.
The estimated fuel economy for the A4 Allroad is 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. No hybrid option is available for this model at this time.
Compared to the interior of the V90, Audi’s A4 Allroad isn’t as complete. It is still a beautiful interior that provides a sunroof, leather upholstery, and ample space.
2. 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-class All-terrain Wagon
The Mercedes-Benz E-class All-terrain Wagon combines SUV styling with the added benefits of a wagon. Third-row seating is available and so is a large cargo area.
Just one trim is available for this model, the E450 All-Terrain. Many options are available including massaging seats and driving aids, but be careful, the price can get high. It starts at $69,450
It is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six that is paired to a 48-volt hybrid system and all-wheel drive. It produces 362-horsepower and can do 0-60 in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph.
With the hybrid system, you can expect 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The interior screams luxury and offers plenty of room. Wood trims and leather seats are optional. Since it is a wagon, you can expect tons of cargo room within the car’s extended body.
A 12.3-inch infotainment system is standard and you get things like real-time navigation, weather updates, and Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
3. 2023 Subaru Outback
Pricing starts at $29,000 up to $42,000 which makes it one of the cheapest cars in this segment. It has more ground clearance than a typical wagon, great cargo space, and a great list of standard tech.
The interior isn’t as nice as some of the competition, but you still get heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and much more.
I recommend the Limited trim which starts at $35,000.It has a great set of standard features and comes with the base engine. Upgrading to the more powerful turbocharged engine costs an extra $6000. We don’t believe that the added cost is worth it.
Two engine options are available; a 2.5-liter flat-four making 182-horsepower is standard and a 260-horsepower turbo flat-four is also available. Both come standard with a CVT transmission and all-wheel drive. 0-60 is achieved in 5.8 seconds and has a top speed of 128 mph.
The fuel economy is estimated to be 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Turbocharged models can get 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
The interior of the Outback is very bland, but Subaru uses great materials and offers many great features. Cargo space is wonderful, providing 33 cubic feet of space. Apple Carplay and Android Auto are standard.

4. 2022 Volvo V90 Cross Country
Compared to the V60, the V90 has a lifted suspension and more SUV styling. It has great off-roading abilities and a great leather interior with wood accents.
A 295-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder paired with a 48-volt hybrid system powers all models. All-wheel drive is standard. 0-60 takes 6.4 seconds and the top speed is 112 mph.
Volvo offers one trim for the V90. Semi-autonomous driving, a sunroof, leather upholstery, and dual-zone climate control are some of the standard features included with the V90. The V90 Cross Country costs $57,295.
Fuel economy is rated at 22 mpg city and 29 mpg on the highway. This is one of the highest fuel-economy ratings in this class of vehicles.
5. Mini Cooper S Clubman
The Mini Cooper S Clubman is a great car but lacks some of the features of a more normal-sized wagon. It doesn’t offer as much cargo room and has a stiff ride. The Mini also has limited ground clearance and doesn’t offer Android Auto. Two trims are offered with pricing beginning at $30,750 to $33,750.
I recommend the base trim unless you need all-wheel drive. It has 17-inch run-flat tires, LED headlights, push to start, and dual-zone climate control. The cabin isn’t as nice as the competition, but it costs far less. 13 cubic feet of cargo space is available, but 44 cubic feet are available with the rear seats folded down.
All models have a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 189-horsepower. It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and an optional all-wheel drive. 0-60 takes the Mini 6.4 seconds and the top speed is 142 mph.
6. 2022 Audi A6 Allroad
The Audi A6 offers a great overall package and is perfect for off-roading. Audi lifted the vehicle to offer more ground clearance and added adjustable air suspension. The fuel economy is estimated to be 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
It is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 that makes 335-horsepower. This is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. It takes the A6 5.2 seconds to reach 60 mph and has a top speed of 129 mph.
Audi offers two trims, starting at $67,995 to $73,495. I’d suggest the base trim because it offers Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, a panoramic sunroof, leather interior, and 20-inch wheels. This is a great set of features that comes standard.
The interior is very luxurious and uses quality materials. It offers great cargo space and more than enough leg room. Audi can boast that they have a 5-star safety rating as well.
7. 2020 Jaguar XF Sportbrake
Jaguars XF Sportbrake takes the design of the XF sedan and adds more cargo space as well as standard features. The rear seats fold completely flat to give you even more storage space. Pricing began at $66,300 up to $72,950, but you can find it lower on the used market because they are no longer made.
I’d suggest the Prestige trim because it has a panoramic sunroof and parking sensors. It also has a more fuel-efficient engine. The base four-cylinder has a rating of 21 mpg for city and 28 for the highway. The supercharged option has an estimated rating of 18 mpg for the city and 25 for the highway.
It comes with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 296-horsepower standards. There is also the optional supercharged V-6 that makes 380-horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard on all models, and so is the 8-speed automatic transmission.
It takes the Sportbrake 6.6 seconds to reach 60 mph with a top speed of 155 mph.
8. 2019 BMW 3 Series Wagon
The BMW 3 Series Wagon was the only wagon BMW made for the U.S. It offered a practical design and stylish interior. It came with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that made 248-horsepower with all-wheel drive standard. It manages a 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 146 mpg.

MSRP is $45,000, though it can only be found on the used market now. I suggest the base trim since it has standard features like cruise control, dual-zone climate control, LED headlights and so much more.

9. 2019 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen
Volkswagen’s Golf SportWagen is perfect for people that want a versatile vehicle. It isn’t the best in the looks department, but it offers a lot of cargo space and excellent value for money. Pricing starts at $22,790 to $30,890 but it is no longer in production.
I would opt for the lowest S trim. It is the only model that offers all-wheel drive. You also get a 6.5-inch display, heated front seats, and a great fuel-efficient engine.
Your first engine option is a front-wheel-drive 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder that makes 174 horsepower. Your second option is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbo that makes 170-horsepower. It has a solid 0-60 time of 7.0 seconds. The 1.4-liter option has a fuel economy rating of 32 mpg combined.
The interior is extremely spacious and uses high-quality materials. We wish the infotainment system was more responsive, but it is quite slow. Leather seats are not available on the lower trims, so you will be stuck with cloth seats.
Upgrading to the higher trims gives you leather seats, power-adjustable front seats, and a push to start feature.
10. 2020 Buick Regal TourX
Though it is no longer in production, the Regal TourX is still a great wagon. You get a stylish modern design and a great cabin room. Three trims are available and pricing starts at $30,295 up to $35,995.
The Preferred trim sits in the middle and is the trim we’d suggest. It has 18-inch wheels, automatic headlights, heated mirrors, and blind-spot monitoring. You also get Apple Carplay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, a Wifi hotspot, and rear parking sensors.
Only one engine option is available for the Regal TourX. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 250-horsepower. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and offers an all-wheel-drive standard. It can reach 60 mph in 6.4 seconds and achieve a top speed of 155 mph.
The fuel economy is estimated to be 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. 33 cubic feet of cargo room is offered and this increased to 74 cubic feet with the back seats folded down.

The Porshe Taycan Cross Tourismo starts at a staggering $92,250 up to $188,950. When you consider all the features and specs available, you can quickly see why.
The Taycan can park itself using your smartphone. You can use voice commands and Porsche allows you to select whatever color you’d like, including classics from the 90s.
Porsche has five trims available, but I would suggest the 4S trim. It has a 562-horsepower engine that comes standard with all-wheel drive. It also had every standard tech you could imagine, along with great safety features and a luxurious interior.
12. 2022 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo
It’s more efficient than the standard Panamera because it offers a wider range of powerful drivetrains and alternative hybrid technologies that have been carefully integrated.
The load area of the Sport Turismo wagon is larger, which offers it an advantage in terms of utility. Otherwise, driving a Panamera is an enjoyable experience. The starting price is $99,000.
Sport Turismo 4S, with its 443-hp twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 and all-wheel drive, offers the ideal mix between quality and functionality, in my opinion. 325 horsepower twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 is found in the basic Panamera 4 Sport Turismo. When it comes to zero to 60 times, Porsche boasts that the car can do it in two seconds flat with a top speed of up to 196 mph.
The GTS has 473 hp from a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, while the new Turbo S has 620 hp. In addition to the GTS, each trim level has an E-Hybrid version that includes an electric motor.
The base 4 variant of the Panamera Sport Turismo gets 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the interstate, making it the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid vehicle.
