Ex and Ex Premium trim levels are available for an additional $1,500 over the base model’s starting price of $39,900. MPGe ratings are 123 city/102 highway. In addition to being fast and powerful, this five-passenger vehicle has an impressive top speed of 104 mph plus a 239-mile range. It gets to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds.
For non-luxury EVs, it’s among the best-looking, with a sleeker appearance and an extensive feature list. It has a towing capacity of 2,800 pounds.
An electric motor of 201 horsepower and a four-cylinder 1.6-liter engine will power the hybrid powertrain of the Niro 2023 model year. Niro will only be offered a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic powertrain for the 2023 model year.
The EX trim level, which is well-equipped but less expensive than the EX Premium, is our preferred option. Heated seats for the front seats are also included as standard equipment.

Electric vehicle sales have been outpaced by Tesla’s Model 3 by a wide margin. When fitted with RWD, the Standard Range Plus model can go 423 kilometers on a single charge and has 197 horsepower to its credit.
GM’s Model 3 is your best bet if you want an electric car that lives up to the hype. With the RWD model’s claimed 272 miles of travel time, some drivers would still be concerned about their ability to get about. Long Range is the type we recommend, with a potential driving range of 358 miles.

The 2022 Mach-E’s MPGe is 108 city/94 highway, starting at $43,895 for the base model. Customize your GT’s performance with the Select, California Route 1, Premium, or GT options. My favorite thing about this car is that it can go from zero to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds.
Both the Mach-E and the Niro have city miles over 100 MPGe, they’re affordable and comfortable.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E electric car is a great choice for individuals looking for a dependable, capacious, and affordable electric car.
This car differs in appearance from the Mustang and has a power range of 266 to 480 hp.
For all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive, there are two battery sizes to choose from. Mach-E’s maximum driving range is approximately 300 miles, as you would expect from a modern vehicle. It has a well-organized storage system and an easy-to-use interface in its cabin.
3. Nissan Leaf
The Nissan Leaf has a top speed of 90 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 7.9 seconds. 123 city/99 highway MPGe is possible. Five passengers can be accommodated in the Nissan Leaf’s S, SV Plus, and SL Plus trims, all of which are offered by Nissan.
The Leaf shares a similar MPGe to the Niro, starting price, and they both ride comfortably.
Because it is the most reasonably priced new electric vehicle on the market right now, the S model appeals to me. The car’s range and safety features have improved over time.
It has a modest 147 horsepower electric motor and a 40-kilowatt-hour battery in the base Leaf model. An 8-inch touchscreen navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration is the single high-tech element in the vehicle’s interior.
Trim levels starting at roughly $40,000 in 2022 will include a standard fast-charging connection and a portable 240-volt charging cable. S Plus’s 226-mile range is longer than the S and S Plus’ 215-mile ranges, which are the shortest of the three.
4. Volkswagen ID

The four-seat 2022 Chevy Bolt has a 259-mile range and an MPGe of 131 city/109 highway for a starting price of $31,500. With a top speed of 93 mph and a 6.5-second time to 60 mph, it comes in 1LT and 2LT trims.
Similar to the Niro, the Bolt has excellent MPGe, only a 0.3 difference in acceleration and they drive pretty well.
To my delight, this year’s model is virtually indistinguishable from the previous models we’ve evaluated (in a good way). No changes have been made to the electric power and torque output of the vehicle’s front-wheel-drive electric powertrain. Low-end torque with this arrangement means you’ll be able to accelerate as soon as the green light comes on.
The new Chevy’s electric motors are more difficult to merge into and pass on because of their slower response times on freeways. We’re aiming to dispel whatever misconceptions you may have about electric vehicles with this year’s model, which provides a comfortable ride and a lot of power.

6. Jaguar I-Pace

As a result of the I-Pace’s air suspension, the car’s steering provides an excellent feel. The electric Jag has a lower center of gravity because of the large battery pack under the floor.

7. Hyundai Ioniq 5
The all-electric compact crossover Hyundai Ioniq 5, has a contemporary look, cutting-edge technology, and a versatile cabin. It offers an MPGe of 132 city/98 highways at a starting price of $28,384. The three trim levels are SE, SEL, and Limited, the latter of which offers an all-wheel-drive option.
In comparison to the AWD, which can go from zero to sixty miles per hour in 5.2 seconds, the 115-mph model can reach that speed in 7.4 seconds.
It features a similar motor to the Kia Niro, gets an excellent MPGe, and has a top speed of slightly over 100 miles per hour. In the US, the Ioniq 2022 5 is the first Ioniq EV. It has a range of more than 300 miles on a single charge when completely charged.
Power output can range from 168 to 320 horsepower depending on whether the vehicle is all-wheel-drive or rear-wheel-drive. Front seats with footrests and plenty of room for passengers make up the Ioniq 5’s standard features.

Using an 800-volt power source and a two-speed transmission, it is the first commercially available electric vehicle to offer a better level of performance and nearly the same recharge durations. Power outputs range from 321 to 616 hp.
Because of its 800-volt electrical configuration, a car battery can move from 5% to 80% charge in just 22.5 minutes. 240-volt chargers, on the other hand, take a full 12 hours to recharge, even though fast chargers are less common. The Premium Plus model comes with a slew of lavish features.
9. Polestar 2

Only the i3 has a gas-powered range extender, which activates when the battery is at 5% charge. Its hp is 170-181 while offering a range of 80 to 100 miles.
