Volvo XC60

With a starting price of $43,745, you get a sleek interior and appearance, economical powertrains, and driver-assist technology.

The peaceful and cozy XC60 is available in seven trim levels, but I’m drawn to the R-sporty Design’s looks and the T6 engine’s zippy performance, so I’d suggest the R-Design B6.

The additional expense compared to the base trim, Momentum, is well worth it because of the various amenities that are now included as standard equipment.

Harman/Kardon audio, nicer alloys, a powered rear liftgate, plus automatic 4-zone temperature control are all included in the R-Design trim level’s feature set.

FWD B5 versions are expected to get 22mpg city and 28mpg highway, according to EPA estimates. Plug-in hybrid T8s get 63 MPGe, while more powerful B6s get 21/27 mpg city/highway/combined.

The Volvo XC60 has three powertrain options: B5, B6, and T8, which all come with AWD and 8-speed automatic transmission. Beneath the B5 hood is a turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine plus a 48-volt hybrid network creating 247 hp. The B6 adds a supercharger with 295 hp in its stable.

The PHEV T8 powertrain uses the B6’s engine and couples it with an electric motor to give 455 horsepower in the Recharge trims. It powers to 60mph in 6.9 seconds with a top speed of 130mph and tows up to 3500 pounds.

If you’ve been looking at the Volvo XC60 but you’re wavering and would like some other options, we’ve researched it for you.

Here are 12 cars similar to the Volvo XC60 in many ways, including:

  • Price
  • Top speed
  • Trim levels
  • Acceleration
  • Horsepower and more.

1. 2022 Porsche Macan

Luxurious Porsche Macan in a skyblue colorway spotted parking outdoors at the street in Baku Azerbaijan.

With more room for passengers and their belongings, the Macan is among my favorite sports utility vehicles. The Porsche Macan is a fantastic-looking, fantastic-driving, fantastic-off-roading SUV that begins at $54,900.

Diesel variants were phased out of the Macan in 2018, and an all-electric version is also in the works. The Macan T model will be available in 2022, making a performance-oriented version more accessible.

The Macan S has a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine. It has 375bhp, enough for a 0-62mph time of 4.6 seconds, making it ideal for racing. You may reach a top speed of 169 mph in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

The Macan GTS’s 0-62 mph time of 4.5 seconds is faster than many sports cars, thanks to the car’s 434 horsepower. In addition, the Macan’s handling thrills even the most well-equipped sports saloons.

2. 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC

Front view angle of a Mercedenz Benz GLC in a grey colorway captured parking beside a river.

The GLC begins at $43,850 and has a city/highway fuel economy of 22/27.

A top speed of 131 mph may be achieved with the three trim levels: GLC 300, GLC 300 4Matic, and GLC 350e 4Matic. They have a 0-60 mph time of 6.1 seconds and a seating capacity of five persons. 3,500 lbs. of towing capacity

It’s capable of things the C-class sedan isn’t, such as rapid acceleration and a luxuriously well-insulated interior.

Luxury-minded drivers will enjoy this vehicle more than thrill-seekers. This model comes with a 255-hp turbo four-cylinder engine and a nine-speed automated transmission.

All-wheel-drive, or 4Matic, can be added as an option to the standard rear-wheel-drive arrangement. The GLC300 gives at least a quiet and smooth ride. In just 5.4 seconds, the all-wheel-drive variant can reach 60 mph.

3. BMW M3 G80

Brand new BMW M3 G80 in a mint green colorway in display at the Ford dealership store.

The BMW M3 G80 will be the sixth model in the M3 series when it goes on sale in 2021. 473 horsepower in the base model and 503 horsepower in the CS model.

It’s a remarkable car, especially when you consider that it can go from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. Despite its unpopular grille, the M3 G80 remains an excellent sports car that complements BMW’s current design language.

Mercedes AMG C 63 takes 4.0 seconds to reach 60 mph, but this car does so in 3.9 seconds. This makes it a better buy than the Mercedes.

It’s worth noting that the CS M3 has about 50 horsepower more than the Mercedes-Benz M3. Four doors and an estate model are on the way, making it an even more enticing proposition.

4. 2022 Lexus NX

Grey Lexus NX in display at the Jakarta Auto Week automotive event open for market buyers.

The new plug-in hybrid version of the Lexus NX is a sleek SUV that has a lot of appeal as a company car. The NX 300h reaches 62 mph in 9.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 112 mph with electric assistance.

The new NX’s cabin design is a major improvement over the previous model, with a more contemporary look and a higher quality of materials.

The 2022 model has an entirely new design, with LED headlamps and a windscreen that has a more extreme rake than the previous generation’s.

Although the new NX’s starting price is under $40,000, it may be too basic for some luxury buyers. When you choose the mid-range AWD NX350, you will get a new turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 275 horsepower. The Luxury package is something you might want to consider including.

A total of four engine options are available for the 2022 NX. All-wheel drive is optional on the NX250, but it is standard on the NX350.

The NX250 has a 203-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. There are two hybrid choices on the table.

5. 2022 BMW X3

Brand new BMW X3 in a blue colorway isolated in a white background.

The new BMW X3 is a well-rounded product that combines comfort, technology, and real driver appeal. You don’t have to be a high-end model to look and feel like one. The starting price is $42,700.

All models include soft-touch imitation leather interiors and glossy-black or aluminum accents for added aesthetic flair.

Even the base models, the xLine and M Sport come with a wealth of features, including an iDrive infotainment system with BMW Live Cockpit Plus digital gauges and a rearview camera as standard equipment.

All X3s come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive, offering them outstanding off-road prowess.

For those who prefer diesel, the 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter 30d engines are available, with the latter having 282bhp. The M40d has a 335-horsepower diesel engine, while the M40i has a 355-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. That enables the vehicle to accelerate from 62mph to 174mph in less than five seconds.

6. 2022 Alfa Romeo

Classy Alfa Romeo 2022 model in a red colorway parked outside a building entrance.

Starting costs for the Alfa Romeo’s five trim levels range from $77,990 to $288,000. You may expect a 100-kilometer fuel economy of 6-8.4 liters.

Gtam (the top trim level), GTA, Quadrifoglio, Sport, and Veloce are all available options. The 2022 Giulia Quadrifoglio, which seats five people, has a top speed of 191/mph and a 0-60 time of 3.8 seconds.

This car is safe, just like the Volvo XC60, and when it comes to speed and handling in the corners, they both have plenty of oomph.

Because it’s not German, it has an enhanced cabin feel, and it’s now more affordable than when it first came out, which I appreciate greatly.

It has also been given a five-star safety rating. A great combination of a sporty look with a high-tech, high-quality audio/video system makes this a great daily driver.

Sedan Giulia Sport starts at $63,950 and goes up to $288,000 for the top-of-the-line Gtam model. The Guille can run on Premium Unleaded fuel.

Transmissions and engine capacities vary between the 2.0L 8 SP Automatic and the 2.9L 8 SP Automatic. HP ranges from 280 to 505.

7. 2022 Jaguar F-Pace

The all new Jaguar F-Pace in a metallic blue colorway in the forest for test driving.

The F-Pace starts at $50,900 and has a fuel economy of 22 city/27 highway. There are six trim levels to choose from: Infiniti’s F-PACE and R-Sport models are also available.

It has a top speed of 155 miles per hour and can reach 60 mph in 3.8 seconds when carrying five passengers. The towing capacity of this SUV is 5,291 pounds.

It has a large load area, improved engines, and excellent handling. Few SUVs, including the 2022 Jaguar F-Pace, can boast both utility and driving enjoyment in one package. Unlike its competitors, the F-Pace is a standout.

The 395-horsepower inline-six P400, which is both beautiful and powerful, follows the turbocharged four-cylinder P250. There are elegant fabrics, top-notch electronics, and plenty of driver technology inside the F-Pace.

8. 2022 Infiniti QX60

The all new Infiniti QX60 in a dark grey colorway at the New York Auto Show.

Finally, Infiniti was able to enter the mid-size luxury SUV market with the QX60, which starts at $46,850. The Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Autograph trim levels are the four options. The Sensory trim is what I’d suggest.

As part of the standard package, you’ll find features like moderate second-row seats and a motion-activated automatic liftgate. However, most purchasers will be content with front-wheel drive, which adds $2000 to the price.

New for the 2022 QX60 is a nine-speed automatic transmission that replaces the previous model’s CVT. The 295-hp V-6 engine from 2020 will still power the QX60. To be clear, the new QX60 is still front-wheel drive, although it does come with an all-wheel-drive option.

Compared to the 2020 model, the QX60’s towing capability is increased by 1000 pounds. It has seven seats, a top speed of 120 mph, and a 0-60 mph time of 6.5 seconds.

9. 2022 Volvo XC90

Brand new Volvo XC90 in a metallic black colorway dsiplayed at the Bangkok Thailand Motor Show 2022.

You get 21 city/30 highway mpg in the XC90, which starts at $50,900. Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription are the three trim levels. This 7-seater sports a top speed of 143 mph and a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds.

Do you intend to travel with a lot of gear? Between 4,000 and 5,000 pounds of pulling power is required to tow something. The inside design is stunning, and it’s perfect for families because it’s both fashionable and well-protected.

The Advance package now includes a 360-degree camera system, a head-up display, and an upgraded air filtering system. The Climate package now includes headlight cleaning and a heated steering wheel as standard equipment. Leather has been removed from the steering wheels that formerly had it.

However, the XC90’s electric range and fuel economy aren’t anything extraordinary thanks to an optional 400-horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain. However, the XC90 is one of the greatest three-row trucks in its class.

10. 2022 Volvo XC40

Elegant looking white Volvo XC40 in display at the Brussels Auto Show 2020.

It’s attractive to own a Volvo because of its many modern comforts, but this model also has a distinct personality. This is the hook for me. In the beginning, it costs $35,100.

The AWD, four-cylinder engine and mpg are all similar to Chevy Trax’s 2022 model.

The brand-new Volvo XC40 SUV, which went on sale in 2022, is a stunning addition to Volvo’s already impressive line-up of SUVs. The T4 and T5 models come with three different levels of trim: Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription.

The base model’s 184-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine is known as the T4. All-wheel drive and 248 hp make the T5 the most thrilling vehicle.

The Volvo Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system, which is standard on pricier Volvo models, is also available on the XC40. In addition to the spacious cargo room, the inside is thoughtfully designed with clever storage alternatives.

Just 4.9 seconds later, you’ll be cruising at 60 mph. It has a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds and an mpg of up to 23 city/32 highway miles per gallon.

11. 2022 Audi Q5

Front view angle of the all new Audi Q5 in an army green colorway in display at the Audi motor show in Riga Latvia.

The base price of the 2022 Audi Q5 and Q5 Sportback is $44,495 and they come with a slew of high-end equipment and an elegant design.

Both the 261-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder and the 362-horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrains come standard with Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The Q5 is decked out to impress technophiles, from its touchscreen infotainment system to its optional digital gauge display.

The Premium Plus 45 and Sportback Premium Plus 45 are my top picks out of the 12 available trims because they come well-equipped and deliver the finest overall performance. Get ready for a 4.5-second sprint to 60 mph. That’s 130 miles per hour.

When it comes to city and highway economy, the Q5 40 gets 23mpg, while the 45 gets 23mpg city and 28mpg highway. The electric-only range of the plug-in hybrid is 23 miles, while the combined fuel economy is 27 mpg. Even while it’s not the most exhilarating car to drive, you won’t be shortchanged when it comes to technology.

12. 2022 Honda CR-V

Front view angle of black Honda CRV in display at the Indonesia Honda dealership store open for market.

Although the cabin is roomy and there is plenty of storage space, both powertrains are limited in their gas capacity. The CR-V’s stunning array of standard amenities, utility, and fuel efficiency more than make up for the lack of a manual transmission.

The Touring Hybrid starts at $38,625 and the base model is $27,625. There are seven trim levels in total. A maximum towing capacity of 1500 pounds is available. The Honda comes equipped with a variety of driver assistance technologies as standard.

The 1.5L turbocharged engine is combined with one of the best CVTs on the market, producing 190 horsepower. The Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors.

To my surprise, the hybrid system was remarkably quiet. As far as acceleration is concerned, it can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 9.3 seconds.

All-wheel-drive variants are rated at 27 mpg city and 32 mpg highway for the front-drive, gas-only vehicle. The fuel economy is 28 mpg with all-wheel drive.

According to the manufacturer, the hybrid CR-V is expected to get 40mpg in the city and 35mpg on the highway. It is rated at 41/38 mpg on the city and highway for the Toyota RAV4.
